27 Weeks

I know. I didn't keep up with that 30 day challenge. In fact I haven't posted in over a week. The last week of the month is usually pretty chaotic but it started a bit earlier this month.
I have a question for you moms out there: What is necessary for a baby nursery? Obviously I know crib and changing table but what else did you find helpful as your little ones were growing? We have decided to go the more Dave Ramsey route and cancelled our expensive crib order (it was on back order until end of the month so hadn't billed yet) and have chosen a crib and changing table set from Target. I love it and I don't have to wait until December for it to get here! CLICK HERE and its the charcoal one.

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 27 Weeks
Size of baby: Head of Cauliflower (14+ inches and 2.5 pounds)
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 24 lbs
Maternity Clothes: Lovin' my maternity jeans from Target
Movement: I've been feeling Kennedy move a lot lately
Sleep: I get tired pretty easily
What I miss: being able to bend down and pick stuff up :)
Cravings: carbs
Symptons: Right now just tiredness, a little bit of heartburn, and some mild back pain
Best Moment this week: Just being so thankful for this baby!

How your baby's growing:

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

  1. Honestly, I never used a changing table. Usually the baby was changed on the couch and when they start squirming and you have to restrain them to change a diaper we were on the floor.

My must-have w/both boys was a swing. It calmed both of them down when I needed a break or needed to make dinner or get laundry folded or....

Also, I never used the diaper genie. The plastic bags from HEB contained the dirty diapers and they went straight into the trashcan.

A basket of some sort w/all of the necessities to change a diaper in the living room was nice.

  2. For me: Must haves: Diaper Genie. Swing. Crib. Changing Table (becuse I have a two story house and when we were upstairs, that is where Nate was changed but if we were downstairs, it was the couch), a very comfortable rocking chair (just in case for those long night, and I had to sleep in it with Nate) and a little bath tub for infants.

Remember: if you are thinking of having more than one child, All this stuff is reuseable for the second one!!!! So, you are not just buying for a one time use, it will be needed for your other children!
