Manly Monday

Ok, so this is pretty fun. Jenny asked me to tell you guys what my experience was when I found out we are expecting. We had just finished TEAMs (aka Bible Study) at our house on Sunday evening and we were somewhat winding down for the night. Jenny asked if we could run to the grocery store to get a pregnancy test because she had her suspicions, (which are not uncommon for her and usually I give her a hard time, because she usually suspects the most outlandish scenario, which I've come to realize has to do with estrogen). This was not the first time We've been through this either. So we got the test, came home and I went outside with the dogs for a bit while Jenny did her thing. While I was outside Jenny tapped on the window of the back door and lo and behold, I find out I'm apparently gonna be a daddy for the first time in my life. However, I can't honestly say I was instantly excited about what I was looking at, but more so in a state of surrealism and blunt shock. I mean think about it; I'm almost 31 years of age, I've wanted to be a daddy since I was about 5 years of age, and it's 2:00 in the morning by this point. As you might guess, we didn't sleep a wink that night. We first thought of who would be the first to know, then we went into the name game, then got the free "WHAT TO EXPECT" iPhone App and found out we were already about 5 weeks along. This is the stuff that most people do their whole lives and now we are actually getting to apply it in real life!

So we've known of the new addition to come for about a week now and I'm already in love with the little "blueberry" sized guy or gal. I know it's the size of a blueberry compliments of the "WHAT TO EXPECT" iPhone App. So yes, we've already been to Baby's R Us, yes we told our parents first, and yes I want the little Munchkin here right the heck now! Someone please tell me these next 8 months or so will fly by, because they really need to.

I'm eternally grateful that Jenny is my wife and that she is gonna be the mother of our children. There are simply too many superlatives to say about her right now to post in this blog. I'll let you guys do that based off what you already know about her. Here comes the truthful cliche: I love her and our extremely little one more than words could ever express. I now know more fully why Jesus died on the cross for his children. I would instantly do the same for mine. No questions asked.

I can't wait to see Jenny's belly grow with the passing days and to feel the little guy or gal moving and kicking on the wall of her stomach. I'll be taking lots of pictures of her as she grows and giving the the little one as many kisses as possible.

6 Weeks

Since I start my 7th week of pregnancy on Tuesday, here's what's been going on inside of me this week:

Here's the stats at 6 weeks:

This week's major developments: The nose, mouth, and ears that you'll spend so much time kissing in eight months are beginning to take shape. If you could see into your uterus, you'd find an oversize head and dark spots where your baby's eyes and nostrils are starting to form. His emerging ears are marked by small depressions on the sides of the head, and his arms and legs by protruding buds. His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to course through his body. His intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appeared. His pituitary gland is forming, as are the rest of his brain, muscles, and bones. Right now, your baby is a quarter of an inch long, about the size of a lentil bean.

One Word Sunday

Due date is January 25th. Yep im about to start my 7th week of pregnancy.. YEEE!!!
Visit the top right corner (right under my blog title) and vote in my poll!! WILL WE HAVE a Boy or a Girl?? SO EXCITING!!!

Our God is Greater - Chris Tomlin

Only You Remain

MERCYME

Verse 1:
Only One never having a beginning
Only One who reigns when everything is ending
High above
Glorious and true

Pre-Chorus:
We sing, Holy, the only uncreated One
Holy, the Light that was before the sun
You shine
And even when the stars have left the sky

Chorus:
You remain
Even when the earth is shaken
You remain
Even when our kings have fallen
Every mountain standing tall will crash into the sea
You were, You are, You will be
Only You remain

Verse 2:
Only One who stood before the universe
Only One authored life with just a word
Lord of all
There is none like You

Bridge:
Eternal
Immortal
Forever the same
(You remain)

American Idol

I don't watch much TV but some would argue that the TV that I do watch is L.A.M.E. I am an unapologetic American Idol fan and I don't care who knows it! I also enjoy watching Big Brother in the summer and Spurs basketball. Oh, and Modern Family :)

So, with that being said I have an announcement to make

I will be trying out for season 10 of American Idol

Thank you for all of your encouragement in advance :)

Top 2 Tuesdays

Top 2 things you want to do before you die

I found this topic pretty tough because there are SO many things that I want to do before I die but the 2 main things would have to be:

1. Have Children. I have wanted to be a mom since I was old enough to carry a baby doll around and my husband holds the same desire. We would like biological children and have a calling to adoption as well. Please pray for the timing of this. THANKS!

2. To write a book and be a published writer. I have so many ideas of things I want to write about but I'm just not sure of where to start. You can pray for that too :)

What are you 2 things?

Friendship

FRIENDSHIP

I've found a book that I need to read. Not have to read or want to read. NEED to read. I'm desperately calling for some of my sisters to read this along with me! I've had a wonderful time reading Beth Moore's So Long Insecurity and Esther and I have so many other things that I've got to get off of my "TO-READ" list but I just feel a tugging on my heart for this! I'm wondering if any of you would want to read this with me and meet on Sunday afternoons for about an hour to discuss what we read.

Here's the Book from Lisa Whelchel: (maybe we could start the first Sunday in June??)

Friendship For Grown-Ups

Do you long for a true friend?

Isn’t that what we all want? To be seen, in all our glory, for better or worse, the good, the bad, and the ugly and still be embraced?’ If only such friendships were easy to find. And keep.

Growing up as an actress in Hollywood, there were few people Lisa could trust, and even fewer to guide her. By the time she reached adulthood, she had learned to be self-sufficient. She was strong, she was “safe,” and she was lonely.

One day, Lisa found that the “the desire to experience connection was stronger than the desire to be safe.” She determined right then to finally understand friendship: how to create one, sustain it, and experience the sheer joy of having it. But it wasn’t easy.

Lisa’s story is heartfelt and compelling. She explores the thorny topic of women’s friendships with honesty, emotion and practical insight. For those who’ve grown up in strong friendships, this book offers powerful reminders to protect those friendships and keep them healthy. And for the rest of us who long for that companionship, this book is a much-needed and compassionate guide to becoming the friend we all need.

For Sale

Every now and then I get the urge to purge myself of stuff. As I was upstairs this afternoon I spotted 5 bags that I just don't think I need. I haven't carried any of them in a few months if not years so I am posting a few pics for my followers before the auctions open up on eBay. I am offering FREE shipping and will ship them the same day that I receive your check or money order.

Thanks for looking!

Temporary Home

Thank you for the reminder Carrie Underwood

Temporary Home Lyrics

Little boy, 6 years old
A little too used to bein' alone.
Another new mom and dad, another school,
Another house that'll never be home.
When people ask him how he likes this place...
He looks up and says, with a smile upon his face,

"This is my temporary home
It's not where I belong.
Windows and rooms that I'm passin' through.
This is just a stop, on the way to where I'm going.
I'm not afraid because I know this is my
Temporary Home."

Young mom on her own.
She needs a little help, got nowhere to go.
She's lookin' for a job, lookin' for a way out,
Because a half-way house will never be a home.
At night she whispers to her baby girl,
"Someday we'll find a place here in this world."

"This is our temporary home.
It's not where we belong.
Windows and rooms that we're passin' through.
This is just a stop, on the way to where we're going.
I'm not afraid because I know this is our
Temporary Home."

Old man, hospital bed,
The room is filled with people he loves.
And he whispers don't cry for me,
I'll see you all someday.
He looks up and says, "I can see God's face."

"This is my temporary Home
It's not where I belong.
Windows and rooms that I'm passin' through.
This was just a stop,on the way to where I'm going.
I'm not afraid because I know... this was
My temporary home."

This is our temporary home.

Sick Day

About 10 days ago I had an ear infection in both ears. I began taking medicine and pushed through with traveling/speaking/friend events. Tonight I have been hit hard by something. I feel like I felt when I was beginning to get "the flu" last summer. I have a fever AND my ears are throbbing so bad that I can't sleep. I asked Kyle if I can take a sick day tomorrow (today) and am reminded how blessed we are to have options in our days. Thank you FHTM!!
