To-Do Lists

Just read an article about how important it is to have a daily to-do list. Chalene Johnson is a fitness instructor that you might know of from Beach Body's Turbo Kick. This morning Chalene suggested to make your to do list and mark off the things you are dreading the most FIRST. So I got up, wrote my list, went for my 2 mile walk with my dog Belle, AND completed 2 months of "books" which means I entered receipts into my little business spreadsheet. WHEW! I am so glad I got those 2 things out of the way. Now I am off to pick up around the house and complete at least 2 loads of laundry.

What's on your to do list today? It feels great to get the dreaded things out of the way!

27 Weeks

I know. I didn't keep up with that 30 day challenge. In fact I haven't posted in over a week. The last week of the month is usually pretty chaotic but it started a bit earlier this month.
I have a question for you moms out there: What is necessary for a baby nursery? Obviously I know crib and changing table but what else did you find helpful as your little ones were growing? We have decided to go the more Dave Ramsey route and cancelled our expensive crib order (it was on back order until end of the month so hadn't billed yet) and have chosen a crib and changing table set from Target. I love it and I don't have to wait until December for it to get here! CLICK HERE and its the charcoal one.

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 27 Weeks
Size of baby: Head of Cauliflower (14+ inches and 2.5 pounds)
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 24 lbs
Maternity Clothes: Lovin' my maternity jeans from Target
Movement: I've been feeling Kennedy move a lot lately
Sleep: I get tired pretty easily
What I miss: being able to bend down and pick stuff up :)
Cravings: carbs
Symptons: Right now just tiredness, a little bit of heartburn, and some mild back pain
Best Moment this week: Just being so thankful for this baby!

How your baby's growing:

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

26 Weeks

How your baby's growing:

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. She may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. She's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of her lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when she's born and takes that first gulp of air. And she's continuing to put on baby fat. She now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel.

I'm 26 weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 26 Weeks
Size of baby: Cucumber
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 22 lbs
Maternity Clothes: Just bought a pair of maternity jeans from Target and I LOVE them
Movement: Yes :)
Sleep: I am sleeping much better this week
What I miss: sprinting..all out running with all I have
Cravings: Milk and Cereal
Symptoms: I was told yesterday by my Dr. that I am anemic and started taking an iron pill supplement. It's amazing how much better I felt just a few hours later.
Best Moment this week: hanging the outfits that Kennedy has received in her closet

Day 5: Your Siblings

My sister Lindsey is 3 years older than me and has red hair. Below is a picture of my mom, Lindsey, and me and you can tell that she and I don't look much alike.

This is my sister's son Landon James and I just LOVE him!
I love this picture of us because it shows how different our heights are. My OLDER sister is just 5 foot 4 and I am 5 foot 11 so we have fun with that. She loves it now because she is 29 but people always think I am the older sister. Lindsey lives in San Angelo and I don't get to see her as much as I would like to but I love her so much. We really have really grown a lot as sisters and I am very thankful to have her in my life.

Day 1:
I am Jenny Diane and from Austin, TX. I have Chocolate Lab named Belle (Jingle Belle...she was born on Christmas) a grumpy male orange cat named Stetson and a Grey Tabby cat named Lucchesse. I have been married since March of 2007 to my BEST friend in the whole world and we are expecting the delivery of our first baby, a girl, in January. Her name will be Kennedy Kate but I have already started calling her KK.
15 Interesting Facts
  1. I am a runner who is taking a break due to pregnancy but I miss it a lot
  2. I love candy and my husband constantly tells me it is bad for me
  3. I'm tall. 5 foot 11
  4. I find myself becoming less outgoing as I grow up and this makes me sad.
  5. I absolutely LOVE what I get to do every day and am so so blessed to be a part of FHTM
  6. My husband and I work wonderfully together and I just can't get enough of him
  7. I am nesting and that means that if I haven't used it recently I am selling it in a garage sale on Oct 30th
  8. I don't like wearing or buying maternity clothes
  9. I love the movie Elf
  10. I love to laugh and tell corny jokes
  11. I became a Christian on June 14th of 2000 and love the Lord with all of my heart
  12. I have a bucket bracelet and think you should have one too
  13. I take a bath every single night
  14. When I was little I wanted to be a country singer
  15. I'm not crafty and proud of it. I do LOVE those of you who are. It kind of amazes me :)
DAY 2: Meaning behind your blog name
I started this blog to track my runs and training for races so I chose a quote from a old Nike tshirt I had in high school. On the front it said, "gotta run" and on the back it said "catch me later" I wish I still had that shirt.

Day 3: Your First Love
I "dated" a boy named Ryan from 7th-11th but after becoming a Christian we didn't have much in common any more. I am thankful for that time with him though :) Those were such sweet days. What is more fun is seeing who God had for me as a spouse. My husband Kyle is more than I could have ever prayed for and leads our family and loves me so well. "Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers" thanks Garth. He is my first true love.

Day 4: Your Parents
My parents have made me who I am today and I just love them. They were married for 26 years and a wonderful example of marriage to me as I grew up but chose to go their separate ways when I was in college (yes this was extremely hard for me and another post for another day) but this made me such a fighter and I'm real thankful for brokenness. That time in my life forced me to cling to the Lord and made me see my parents as human for the first time. It also helped strong relationships form between my parents and I. I have my dads personality completely! He is funny and sensitive and so am I. Everyone tells me I look like my mom but I sure didn't get her craftiness :) She is sweet and has taught school almost 30 years. I have my compassion and willingness to teach from her.

25 & 1

Yesterday was a VERY eventful day so I didn't get a chance to write my weekly pregnancy post:
Here's how it went

9:30AM: I'm drinking my "fruit punch" for my glucose test and it's not so bad.
10:00AM: We arrived at Hay's Women's Health for my appointment and received a call from Mark Wittenburg and my friend Beth (his wife) telling us that she has been having contractions every 10 minutes since 6PM the night before and her doctor told her to come on in.
10:30AM: The nurse calls me to the room and takes my blood for the test. Not fun
11:00AM We happily leave the appointment after hearing a great sounding baby heart beat, having a few questions answered, getting a names of local pediatrician, and setting my next appointment (the last monthly appointment) for November 10th.
11:15AM: Text from Mark that says "Beth is 5cm and the baby will be here today"
11:15-11:30AM pure excitement in our car! That baby isn't due until November 12th! My last blog post was about this! We pray for baby's health and for Beth's and get home to change and head to the hospital.
11:30AM: We arrive home to a big box of KENNEDY'S BEDDING on our porch :) :) Oh I wish that crib were here! It is so pretty and I can't wait to set up her room!
12:00PM: Hospital, wait, Beth decided on epidural, wait, more waiting..........
6:06PM: ..........

Nathan Robert Wittenburg is here!! He's healthy and doing great and so is momma! 5.7 pounds and 18.5 inches long. All of the nurses in the nursery are ohhing and ahhing over him and of course we are too!!
Proud mom and dad

On Saturday Beth and I were talking about how she probably won't be at my first baby shower on November 13th because of Nathan's due date. Oh how we were wrong. Thank you Lord for reminding me that its Your time not ours!! He is precious.

So with that:

How your baby's growing

Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 25 Weeks & 1 day
Size of baby: Baby K is the size of a Rutabaga???
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 22 lbs
Maternity Clothes: Jeans ordered online should be here any day now. I'll model them for you
Gender: Girl
Movement: getting kicked several times a day :)
Sleep: Had a HORRIBLE nights sleep Monday night but last night was better
What I miss: sprinting ;) I can't wait to train for a race or two
Cravings: Milk, Fruit
Best Moment this week: Her bedding arriving. Purchasing maternity jeans (can you see how much I miss my jeans ;), Nathan Robert being born!!!!! Her first friend is already here and waiting for her!

This Weekend

This weekend has left me full of joy and needing a weekend to recover. I love weekends like that.

On Saturday I headed to Kyle, TX to help host a baby shower for my dear friend Beth who is due to have her son Nathan Robert on November 12th.

This is Beth with her niece Samantha. It was a wonderful day.
On Sunday, 10-10-10 we woke up early to celebrate the wedding of Whitney Hanna and Casey Carlson. We headed to Kyle, TX for the rehearsal/rehearsal breakfast at 9:00AM and stayed throughout the day to prepare for the wedding celebration.
Here's the bride during rehearsal
The bride and Me at the reception. I loved Whitney's dress and the bridesmaid dress fit me just right.
Mr. and Mrs. Casey Carlson!!! I love this pic! My mother-in-law Carol made all of the bouquets for the bridesmaids and bride. They were beautiful!
Tomorrow I start my 25th week of pregnancy and also have my glucose/baby plan appointment with Dr. Rutter. Look forward to that update tomorrow afternoon. We have a full week of speaking/meetings ahead followed by a huge Texas training in San Marcos this Saturday. I will keep you updated.

Thanks for reading!

Wordy Wednesday...

Why do people let others tell them that something they are doing won't work?

My dad always says, "opinions are like armpits everyone has two of them and they all stink". I used to laugh about this but as I am getting older I realize that he is right! So my inspiring word for you today is this:

Don't ever let someone tell you that it can't be done
Don't ever let someone say you are crazy for following your dreams
Don't ever let someone tell you that it won't work
or that you just can't do that
You CAN!! You can do anything you set your mind to!
but don't you make excuses
"JUST DO IT!!

24 Weeks

Since Kennedy is now the size of an ear of corn...
I thought Id throw in some candy corn for fun :)

How your baby's growing:

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts her at just over a pound. Since she's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), she cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon start to plump up. Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world. Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 24 Weeks
Size of baby: Baby KK is the size of an ear of corn
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 22 lbs
Maternity Clothes: no long old navy maternity jeans in store..here I go online shopping again
Gender: GIRL next appointment is for glucose screening
Movement: KK is kicking all the time!
What I miss: my old jeans
Cravings: Milk, Fruit, Cheese
Symptoms: I'm having to take a nap every afternoon
Best Moment this week: seeing movement on my belly. So weird and amazing all at the same time!

Shiner Boy

As of tonight we have a 3 year old Orange male cat named Stetson.
A 2 year old female tabby cat we call LuLu or LuLeeLu.
A Chocolate female lab named Belle but I call her Belly-Brown most days.
A black male lab named Shiner. Shiner Boy

You might remember my previous post about PETS where I cried about not knowing what to do with a baby, business, and 4 pets. On Tuesday we made the decision that we should give the dogs to new homes. I think I cried the WHOLE day with the exception of a 2 hour meeting where I HAD to maintain my composure. I love all of my animals so very much but I never thought I could feel this way about a dog (or two). I asked several ladies and fellow bloggers for prayer in this situation and I think it ended up just right. On Tuesday I posted a post on Facebook stating that I needed to find a home for 2 wonderful labs. By the end of the day I had 6 people who wanted Shiner and 1 that wanted both. Of course we thought the one that wanted both was the best scenario. I cried and cried and cried and here is how Wednesday played out:

7:00 AM- I receive a facebook message and a text from my mom wanting Shiner
9:00AM- I text her back and tell her that he already has a home
9:00AM-6:30PM- I cry off and on all day and beg Kyle to let us at least keep Belle
6:30PM-guy from day before calls and says he doesn't think its the right time for 2 dogs
6:45PM- Kyle comes in from working with Belle in the yard (she will be a wonderful bird dog for him) and he says, "if we can find a home for Shiner we can keep Belle..she's amazing"
7:00- I call my mom who squeals in delight. Shiner will be moving in with her tomorrow.

Please do not think that this is an easy thing for me at all. I have been sitting with him all evening (he's at my feet now) telling him how much I just love him. He is such a special dog and I know he will be a HUGE blessing to my single mom. She is so very excited. She told me that every time we come to visit her we can bring Belle and every time she comes to see us she will bring Shiner. I am so glad that he gets to remain as part of my family and that he will get to be a blessing for my mom.

I will leave you tonight on a happy note. I just got back from a trip to Hobby Lobby for fall decorations. I ended up with a $4.21 purchase of small items for Kennedy's nursery :)

Did you think to pray?

ROCKTOBER

"Rocktober" is what we FHTM reps are calling the month of October because we just found out that it now only costs $99 to sign up and become a rep with FHTM!! This is a big deal and will help a lot more people find financial freedom! We are having a record first day of the month and I am so excited!!

In other news I have decided to delete my registry with Pottery Barn. Though I love love love that store I do not want to wait for the bedding and furniture there that is on back order until JANUARY 15th. Seriously? I'll go elsewhere. I am such a planner and if I don't have her nursery set up by December-ish I won't feel right. So, Kyle and I set out this morning to find new bedding and a new crib for Miss K.
We are now registered at BuyBuyBaby and Target and we expect delivery of the above crib in 6-8 weeks. I LOVE IT!!!
This is the new bedding and room decor that we have picked for Miss K. I am so excited to start decorating her room and thankful for Shelli Beck, my mom, and mother-in-law for offering to help put the nursery together. All are welcome in this endeavor.

What I'm Looking Forward to This Month
  • October 2nd- I am helping Dani throw Whitney her Bachelorette/lingerie party
  • October 3rd- making a run to Houston to drop off Shiner dog at his new home with my mom. I will write another post about this later but I am so happy for him and her!
  • October 9th- Beth's baby shower in Kyle, TX
  • October 10th- Whitney and Casey's wedding!
  • October 15th- Doublers dinner with our company and company founder Paul Orberson in San Marcos, TX
  • October 16th- Lexus in Texas event in San Marcos. Advanced FHTM training with Paul Orberson
  • October 20th- baby check up and glucose screening with Dr Rutter & start of my 3rd Trimester (Thanks Stephanie and Jenny H)
